Six More Years for Scott Brown!

This is an alert to gays and conservatives alike: If you're serious about the advancement about equality under law, then it's time to support Senator Scott Brown R-MA (how often do I get to type R-MA?!)
Senator Scott Brown said this week that he will support a repeal of the military's "Don't Ask Don't Tell" policy. Of course, he didn't forget to qualify his remarks with a refusal to do so before tax hikes on small business owners are thwarted.
Brown, who serves on the Senate Armed Services Committee, is up for election in 2012. Rumors have already floated of a primary challenge from more "conservative" Republicans. But really? In Massachusetts? Brown won election in 2009 with conservative backing as well as a groundswell of Tea Party support. But the moderate Republican was swept into office on the singular pledge that he would serve as the 41st vote against President Obama's health care bill. With that fight over, it's unclear whether the senator will be re-elected.
Bottom line: Senator Brown is an awesome Republican in a place where any Republican is endangered. Not only must conservatives rally behind his re-election, but so should died-in-the-wool Democrats fighting forgay rights equality under law. Senator Brown of Massachusetts is exactly the kind of level-headed statesman that is sorely lacking in Washington.
Or, if you want to see a disaster, go ahead and Christine O'Donnell him in a primary and watch the dominoes fall.
