The 9/11 Generation

Remember91101.org: Twin Towers Memorial
by Sheela Venero:

Friends, They say the attacks on 9/11 changed many young Americans, who ten years ago today were walking into their classrooms. These are the men and women who watched their Country go to war in their adolescences and now many of them are fighting for our freedoms.

We all have our stories of where we were ten years ago. I was 15 and walking into my freshmen biology class. We had already heard about the first tower and it seemed like the entire school stopped to pray.

When news about the second tower was heard, every classroom turned on televisions to find out what was going on. Tears broke out and you can see the fear on our faces. We didn’t understand what was going on and we couldn’t comprehend why anyone would attack our Country.

Ten years later many of my classmates and those in my generation around the Nation are currently oversees, fighting to protect our Country so that the children back home will not have to watch war in their backyards or on their street corners.

Today as we remember the anniversary of the 9-11, pray for the families with lost loved ones, for the brave on flight 93 who courageously fought the hijackers, for our leaders, for the men and women of our armed forces and for our great Country.

I will never forget! God bless the USA.

Always,
Sheela Venero
